A reader sent me a thoughtful reflection on this piece, and it reminded me why this topic matters. Moral injury touches not only what we experience, but how the soul makes sense of what has happened. I am grateful for the reminder that healing is possible, and that we are not ultimately defined by the injury, but by God.

A reader gave me permission to share this response to When Conscience Carries the Wound, and I’m deeply grateful for the way he received the piece:

"You handled moral injury without flinching from the responsibility side of it and without leaving the reader stranded there, which is rare. The line about the self finally telling the truth stayed with me."
